Subject:Boot failure

Hello Folks,

Here's a problem I'm hoping someone may have come across before.

When I power up my A4000T (Power Tower) it will boot to the point
where a WB screen has opened, then the mouse pointer freezes, and the
hard drive light flashes intermittently, as if it is trying to go on,
but nothing more happens, and disk activity ceases.

It appears to be connected with the WBPattern, as if I don't have a
pic as a WB background, it boots OK. Sometimes it *will *boot OK,
sometimes it takes three attempts. Once or twice I've had to boot
without startup sequence and run WBPattern to re-set it without a pic
as background, then re-boot. It's damned annoying!

I've also found that if I change the WB background I sometimes get a
similar lock-up, and have to re-boot.

I have a CyberStormPPC 060/50 604e/233 and 146 MB of RAM, (128MB on
the CyberStorm) PicassoIV with paloma and Concierto modules. I run OS
3.1, MCP, NetConnect3, VC 2.5, DOpus 4.12, ToolsDaemon and Magic Menu.

I'd love to send this to the mag, but I don't want to put up with it
for two months before I get an answer... ;))

regards,
